Student film and video projects: better kit lists for better results
New functionality in connect2 equipment scheduling software is helping students borrow more comprehensive kit lists from university lending schemes. This new capability supports better learning outcomes for successful film making or video projects. Students are always better prepared and equipped, plus the improved access to borrowing resources helps build their familiarity and professionalism around using film and video equipment as part of their assignments.
With the new connect2 software functionality, additional resources to a student’s self-service equipment reservation can be added at checkout with some key checks in place. Crucially, it highlights the choice of return times which align with existing project deadlines. With these options listed, technicians have more opportunity to advise students on additional items of equipment required for their projects while keeping the lending arrangements as straightforward as possible. It helps simplify the whole checkout and return process for student projects - no matter how long the kit lists involved!
This new feature also enables institutions to make the most of their investments in cameras and other media equipment, ensuring all cables, batteries, lenses and other items are tracked and accounted for. It affords technicians and instructors more flexibility when advising and working with students, and it supports students in having a positive experience when entering into arrangements for borrowing items.
Thanks to our college and university customers who have worked in partnership with the connect2 team to realize this great new feature. We trust that the added flexibility that it brings will be apparent in students' creative results in the semester ahead.
